Ath. 4, 140b for *ὀρθραγορίσκος, " ἐπεὶ πρὸς τὸν ὄρθρον πιπράσκονται" (litterally `who has its market in the early morning'), a qualification, which Bechtel Dial. 2, 328 rightly finds remarkable, but considers as undoubtable; the name would be a word of plaisantry. After Pisani Paideia 13, 143 however by the Lacedaemonians created with unfriendly reference to Όρθαγόρας, the first tyrant in Sicyon; from there folketymolog. ὀρθρ-.
